PBC has established itself as a neighborhood oriented market and cafe utilizing premium, all natural ingredients, to provide handmade quality at ‘neighborly’ price. In the morning, the locals have made the PBC part of their morning ritual enjoying our locally roasted espresso and coffee perhaps coupled with a freshly-baked white-chocolate raspberry scone (or a more healthy, but just as delicious, banana bran muffin). For those that have a bit more time or bit more appetite, PBC will prepare a pulled-pork breakfast burrito smothered in our green chile, or maybe a ‘Sunrise Sandwich’ on a fresh ciabatta roll.
The free internet enables a relaxed but contemporary environment for those that wish to do a little work under the open garage doors as the day unfolds outside. As the lunch-hour approaches, Pearl Street begins to bustle again and those people passing by can’t help but stop at the smell of bread fresh out of the oven that will create the perfect sandwich – they know to ‘get it toasted’ for best results. Many will sit a bit longer, letting their life slow down for a moment while enjoying an award winning cookie or an early afternoon espresso.
As the afternoon heats up, the locals return to cool off with PBCs to-die-for-homemade-all-natural-ice-cream. With flavors such as Cinnamon Caramel Swirl, Macadamia Nut Brittle, Butter Pecan, and Blueberry Cheesecake, one trip is simply not enough. The vanilla is just right, the chocolate is perfectly smooth, and the sorbets are uniquely refreshing (Strawberry Ginger, Citrus Basil, and the intensely rich Dark Chocolate sorbets are favorites among regulars).
As the work day slows, Pearl Street again picks up its pace. People coming home from work stop in to browse the selection of the day’s baguettes, ciabatta loaves, or sour dough. If they are lucky, there is still a loaf of the Jalapeno Cheddar. For many, the selection of take-and-bake pizzas is just what the family needed on that night. Simple, easy, freshly prepared, and delicious. When the family arrives together, there is something for everyone: mom will love one of our daily soups made from scratch, dad will dig in to a meatball sandwich or a plate of lasagna, the kids (or just the kids in us) will crave our ‘Melted Cheese Sandwich.’
The evening continues and that is when Pearl Street really comes to life as hundreds of people come from miles away to enjoy drinks or dinner at some of Denver’s most notorious restaurants. As they walk past the double garage doors, PBCs comfortable ambiance draws them in to browse the selection of ice cream, desserts, coffees, and teas. Without fail they announce, “ohhh, we’re coming back here!” Sure enough, after a great dinner at one of the sought-after restaurants on the block, PBC welcomes them home with a warm-slice of apple pie and little scoop of ice cream to make it the perfect day.
